Thrift Store Painting Transformation: Tentacles

Being a member of CLAW (Cartoonist's League of Washingtonians) is great because we have an ongoing thrift store painting transformation project.  The rules are simple: Get your hands on some mediocre, unloved thrift store painting and then add some sort of monster. robot, otherworldly item into the painting.  My latest is this tentacle monster residing in this sleepy riverbank scene.  I call it: "She Knew He Possessed Hidden Depths."

CLAW will be showing a collection of Monsters in Thrift Art at 1120 Creative House this month with an art opening on Thursday October 20th, 2016

My first thrift store painting, a Dungeons and Dragon inspired monster was inserted into an equally uninspired desert landscape.

I think this is a great exercise--you aren't overly precious about the painting since it's been abandoned at a thrift store, but it also gives you freedom to try something you wouldn't normally do.  What are you waiting for?  Find your own thrift store painting and get to work!
